Man makes a new Guinness World Record for fastest typing with his nose

By: Roshan Ashraf Shaikh | More News: Humor & WTF | Posted: Jul 3, 2014 2:16 am

Unlike some people, Khurshid Hussain from India used his nose for breaking a world record. The 23-year-old man was able to type a 103-character sentence in 47 seconds to achieve the Guinness World Record for fastest typing using only his nose.

Hussain had to type the sentence 'Guinness World Records has challenged me to type this sentence using my nose in the fastest time'. Hussain was able to break this record which was previously set by a Saudi Arabian in 2008 with a recorded time of one minute and 33 seconds. This isn't Hussain's first world record either. He made one more World Record earlier in February 2012 when he typed the entire English alphabet in 3.43 seconds, using his fingers.

There many who hold world records for fast typing. Grace Pak broke a world record by typing 280 characters-per-minute on a smartphone, whereas Jorge Guevera had a world record for fastest typing on a smartphone in Spanish!

Mechanic wrecks rare Ferrari Enzo during test drive

By: Shane McGlaun | More News: Humor & WTF | Posted: Jun 25, 2014 1:00 pm

I'd wager one Ferrari mechanic is looking for another job this week after he crashed a rare and incredibly expensive Ferrari Enzo sports car this week. The Ferrari Enzo is worth about $1 million and the car was placed into the care of Miller Motorcars in Greenwich, Connecticut for some sort of service at the time of the accident.

The Ferrari technician and a passenger were taking the car for a ride on a freeway when the driver lost control and crashed the car into the median of the highway. No one was injured in the accident. Michael Fux, a mattress mogul who owns a company called Sleep Innovations, is the owner of the Enzo.

Only 400 Ferrari Enzo sports cars were manufactured. The rare model was built to celebrate the founder of the brand. No official comment from the dealership or the owner of the car has been made. It's unclear if the vehicle is repairable at this time.

Correct pronunciation of 'Nike' finally revealed

By: Ben Gourlay | More News: Humor & WTF | Posted: Jun 2, 2014 11:39 pm

Ever been in an argument over the pronunciation of a brand? Jiff? Giff? No-keya? Knock-ia? Ni-key? Nyke? For the latter at least, two enterprising Americans have proactively approached Nike chairman Phillip Knight and posited the question to him directly for a definitive response.

In a return letter to Ben Martin and Kendal Peters, Knight confirmed that the 45 year old footwear and apparel corporation should be pronounced as 'Ni-Key', seemingly ending years of debate in mere seconds.

The U.S. company has annual revenue of $25 billion USD, eclipsing rivals Adidas and Reebok (now owned by Adidas).

3-year-old remembers he was murdered in a past life, locates old body

By: Anthony Garreffa | More News: Humor & WTF | Posted: May 27, 2014 5:58 am

In the Golan Heights region close to the border of Syria and Israel, a 3-year-old boy has said that he remembers being murdered in a previous life. The boy said that he was murdered with an axe in his previous life, ushering elders to where his murdered body was buried - what they found there, was a skeleton.

The elders also found the murder weapon, the axe, once they began digging. The boy was part of the Druze ethnic group, where reincarnation is accepted as fact. It is customary for elders to usher a child at the age of 3 to the home of his previous life, if he or she remembers it. The boy knew the village he was from, so they took him there, and upon arriving at the village, the 3-year-old boy remembered the name he had in his previous life.

A village local said that the man the boy claimed to be in a previous life had gone missing four years ago, with friends and family thinking he might have left the village, stumbling into hostile territory. The boy even remembered the full name of his killer, confronting the killer himself, who when confronted, was shocked at the allegation - but didn't admit to murder.

Calf that lost both hind legs to frostbite gets prosthetics

By: Shane McGlaun | More News: Humor & WTF | Posted: May 23, 2014 2:04 pm

It's rather strange to see a calf with a pair of prosthetic limbs, yet that is exactly what we have here. A calf named Hero suffered frostbite to its rear legs and as a result, both of the limbs had to be amputated. Rather than just killing the animal, a team of prosthetic makers in Texas built two new legs for the calf so it could get up and walk again.

To get the calf ready for the prosthetic legs, a surgical team removed about two inches of bone from the stumps left behind to get the calf ready for the prosthetic limbs by creating a pad of tissue. The team who actually made the limbs for the calf says that they studied photos of cows and video to see how they walk to try to mimic that motion mechanically.

The US military has a plan against "Evil Magic Zombies"

By: Anthony Garreffa | More News: Humor & WTF | Posted: May 15, 2014 11:31 am

Until now, you've most likely never heard of CONOP 8888-11, but this is the United States military's "Counter-Zombie Dominance" plan. It has some intense detail in the report, something that US tax payers have paid to have done.

The zombie threat summary lists quite a few different "zombie threats," something that includes: Pathogenic Zombies, Radiation Zombies, Evil Magic Zombies, Space Zombies and even Weaponized Zombies. While this was done as an exercise at the US Strategic Command, the staff there "looked for a creative way to devise a planning document to protect citizens in the event of an attack of any kind".

Astonishing video captures moment family cat saves boy from dog attack

By: Ben Gourlay | More News: Humor & WTF | Posted: May 15, 2014 12:58 am

Whilst I own the world's most selfish cat, whose sole concern in life is the free-flow of the premium cat food she's become accustomed to, across the world a young Californian boy has been rescued by the family feline, in a selfless and protective act that's been captured on security videos and uploaded to YouTube.

In the silent video embedded below, a young boy can be seen riding his bicycle in the driveway of the family's home in Bakersfield, California when a dog runs at him, latching his jaw on the boy's leg, before the cat barrels itself at the dog running it away from its victim.

The video, uploaded by ABC news in Bakersfield has received much media attention and has attracted 136,000 views at the time of print.

17 million year old sperm has been found in Australia

By: Anthony Garreffa | More News: Humor & WTF | Posted: May 14, 2014 10:00 am

Scientists have found what they are calling the world's oldest, and best-preserved sperm. The ejaculate has been dated back some 17 million years, with the sperm found in Australia.

The scientists report that the sperm is from an ancient species of tiny shrimp, discovered at the Riversleigh World Heritage Fossil Site, which is found in far north Queensland. This is the same spot that other extraordinary prehistoric Australian animals have been found. Mike Archer, from the University of New South Wales School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences, said that the sperm found was an exciting find - considering he had been excavating at Riversleigh for 35 years.

Archer said: "These are the oldest fossilised sperm ever found in the geological record. We have become used to delightfully unexpected surprises in what turns up there. But the discovery of fossil sperm, complete with sperm nuclei, was totally unexpected. It now makes us wonder what other types of extraordinary preservation await discovery in these deposits".

Road rage leads to felony assault charges for Silicon Valley exec

By: Michael Hatamoto | More News: Humor & WTF | Posted: May 7, 2014 6:16 pm

Iron Data founder Jeffrey Smock has been charged with felony assault and will be arranged on May 16, following an arrest after a road rage incident. Smock allegedly was the aggressor following an incident where he accused a driver of mistakenly hitting him with the truck's side mirror - and then promptly beat the driver unconscious.

A motorcycle officer heard vehicle horns and yelling, then arrived at the scene to find Smock standing near someone "lying in the street with blood on his face and on the ground near him." The driver was hospitalized with "serious injuries," but was released shortly after the incident.

Unfortunately, it's not uncommon to hear about road rage incidents between drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists - with unsafe behaviors exhibited by each group at varying times. Share the road and keep everyone safe, folks.
