As mentioned in my previous unboxing video, 2014 is going to be the year of 3D Printing here at TweakTown, and today I am back with another printer to unwrap. Punchtec's Ord Bot Hadron is one of the nicer ready-to-print models on the market, and they were kind enough to send me one to put through my strenuous testing routine.

As you can see, Punchtec is quite fond of packing peanuts, but they do a wonderful job of protecting the mostly metal Ord Bot Hadron from damage during shipment. I do like the fact that Punchtec wraps everything up nice and tight with shrinkwrap, and everything is bundled tightly to the printer. One thing to note is that the spool holder ships unattached to the printer, and you will need to dig through the peanuts to find its three pieces.

Unlike some other printers I have had on my workbench, the Ord Bot comes with few extras, but that serves to keep the cost down. However, it does come with everything you need to print sans filament, including a 4GB SD card for untethered printing.

To date, my experience with 3D printers is based around the ones I have built, and the Lulzbot AO-100 I currently own, all of which are based on the wedge shaped RepRap Mendel. To say the least, the Ord Bot Hadron is quite different in design from what I am used to. I must admit that the Ord Bot is quite the refreshing change. I look forward to testing out Punchtec's Ord Bot Hadron over the next few days, and cannot wait to share my thoughts on it with everyone.
